Texas truck channel did an mpg test. They got a little over 20mpg driving at 70mph and around 22mpg in town. That highway mpg is pretty disappointing.

I'm currently trying to determine my average mpg to see if my gauge is reading correctly. I filled the tank and let the nozzle shut itself off without topping off, then set my trip odometer to 0. When the tank gets low I'll go back to the same pump and repeat the fill up process. Then I'll divide the miles drove by the gallons and get my average city/highway mpg. It's fairly accurate and the only way I know how to check it. So far my truck's mpg gauge is telling me it's around 17mpg.

That’s the best way to check the mpgs. What type of driving have you been doing? 17 is pretty low.

I do a 64 mile round trip to work and back with about ⅓ of that distance being city driving.

Hopefully you start getting better mpgs than that. I have a similar commute and get 17 mpg in my 2nd gen with bigger AT tires.

Agreed. I'm hoping that some of these numbers will improve after break-in. I could get 20+ with my 4Runner (highway, 70 mph) when it was stock.

I can easily do 17 MPGs on my lifted taco running 33s and carrying 330# of constant weight.

17-18 city and 21 highway driving around 60. That’s warmer months though, winter it drops few MPGs.

Power is up, but so is weight.

If I keep my 4R (on 285/70/17 KO2s) around 55-60, I can see 19-20. That’s sort of criminal for the new Tacoma.

The fuel tank size is also down. 17 mpg makes the range horrible. Is that around 240 miles when the gas light comes on?

I've only put around 300 miles on it so far. Filled up when the gauge showed I had 80 miles worth of gas left in the tank so the low fuel light didn't come on.
Any ideas what's causing all the 24's to be held up and not shipped? Mechanical issues? Breaking down? Gotta wonder how mine slipped thru the cracks and made it to the dealer's lot?

You must be getting better mpgs than the truck is telling you then.
Someone in another thread mentioned that corrosion on the wires for the grille shutter is what the delivery hold up is for.

    Exactly what is "grille shutter"?

It’s an electronic louver between the radiator and the grille that opens and closes to allegedly save on fuel. It’s supposed to make the vehicle more aerodynamic when it is closed.

I have a “manual” grille shutter that consists of left over packing material and some zip ties. Never fails.:)

And yours probably works just as well Junkhead !
It's cost effective,. If it breaks you can throw it away and replace it with more 'free' packing material!
If mine breaks it'll probably throw a fault code and then I'll have to take it to the dealership for warranty repair and then they will keep it 2-3 days because the replacement part didn't arrive on time. Just another unnecessary "convenience" to fail and have to get fixed.

So only more MPG and far more usable power and torque, while swinging bigger tires? What a POS

Some people are MPG conscious and the iForce does not deliver in that area. If the iForce Max can deliver 23-24 MPG combined, I'd go in that direction, personally.
