Was it hard attaching the chain to the semi while moving?

    Exactly.

Some of these numbers I swear folks are just hyper-miling, driving 45 in a 75 and are probably causing a road hazard like my 85 yr old Father-in-law driving 55 in the fast lane.

Another tank, mixed highway and city. Still taking it easy at 850 miles and I got 18.44 MPG. So either I got a lemon or people are just driving from their house to the grocery store and fill up 1 every 2 months.

I don't care what I get as I bought a truck, not a Prius. Just for sh$ts and giggles I am doing my entire next tank on ECO mode.

Do you live in Show Low? I grew up up there. I miss it. I live in the valley now.

My ‘16 consistently gets 22 to 23 average, winter being the lower figure. Small town, to Safeway, maybe the hardware store, back home, round trip 14 miles or more, no big city driving really helps. Drive 50 to 55. Trip from Kalifornia to Washington and back a few weeks ago got 25 in places, 55 to 65mph. Fresh Mobil 1 oil change.
    Softopper, open front and back.

Anyone have mpg/range while loaded? Seems like a lot of posts on here are unloaded downhill with a tailwind individual trip averages, not overall tank average.

Looking to buy a new truck for traveling on the road for 2-3 months out of the year with a camper, probably with a constant load of 1100-1200 lbs. The 18 gallon tank gives me pause, and it doesn’t look like the payload wasn’t increased hardly at all from the previous gen, correct? Read somewhere that the Trail Hunter is 1700 lbs, but at that price probably better off buying a 1 Ton.

    Almost 2k miles….. 20.4mpg. Not good, hoss

Mostly 65/70mph highway going 3 (5 on the dash) over.
Tranny is getting slower and more hesitant to shift down, almost anemic, Am in normal drive mode.

Only 15 useable gallons right? Had a 1st Gen years ago with an 18 gallon tank, but it would only take 15 gallons on fill ups. Averaged only 265 miles per tank with a 1000 lbs constant load, it was a pain in the neck to do any long distance traveling in.

Yep. I probably fill up about the same amount, as frequently, with my ‘24 compared to my 1st gen with 32.7”s and a 2.5-3” lift

Have 3rd Gen now, can get a consistent 365-375 miles per tank, but it is setup fairly light with only a topper. With a pop up camper guessing the mpgs would crash into the 15-16 range.

Pulled a trailer 2500-3k lbs 260 miles over a mountain pass and back avg was 17.2 mpg, I easily get 22-23mpg, 350 miles per tank, best was 382.

This is pretty spot on. Towing my boat (total with trailer probably 1,800-2klbs) 3-5 days a week I get about 18 mpg. Road trips, 22-23 is spot on.

Thank you. Coming off a Class C RV and want to downsize. Was originally going to go super simple for a travel rig and only do a topper. Now considering wedge campers and self contained popups.

Looking at this Scout or a Hiatus. Probably not enough people out there just yet with campers to get a good gauge on mpgs/range.

And those are the lightest of the wedge campers. Hmmmm, unsure if the Taco is going to fit the needs.

My current truck is perfectly fine, was thinking the turbo 4 would haul loads better without all the crazy trans shifting my 3G does even with it only at half capacity.

It has more to do with wind resistance than weight? Same profile you’d still probably get 17 ish. I also have a 21 ft Marlin Eldorado boat, it’s a pig, loaded up it’s near 6k lbs and the turbo 4 doesn’t break a sweat! It holds a gear and just increases boost vs constantly shifting. 20 mile round trip 16-17mpg.

It does, I can squeak out 21-22 Hwy in the 3G towing 2500 lbs with a flat open trailer.

Start adding wind resistance like in bed campers or cargo trailers it nose dives. The Class C did 5-6, so anything is better than that, range is a concern with the Taco, plan on trips up through Canada, Alaska and down into Baja.

Ran into a couple from Germany traveling in a little Mitsubishi diesel with a really nice fiberglass pop up, got me thinking if they can travel the world in that, don’t need a Class C, that thing was kinda miserable to drive anyways. Did a couple 2 week trips in my Taco with only a topper, thinking this can work! Was nice simplifying things. Unsure living out of it for 2-3 months at a time would be ok though. Trying to find a happy middle ground.

I just did a trip from Show Low to Troy, Ohio for a hammer-in, in my 3rd gen and averaged 25 mpg. My best tank average was about 29. Around town I average 24 in the summer and 22 in the winter. It will be interesting to see how the 4th gens will do.

Well you can read the several MPG threads already. Average for most is 19. Of course you love to get the outlier hyper-milers that report a 30 mile trip that they are getting better than the hybrid at 30+. Not reality. Count on 19 and you will not be disappointed.
