Pardon me if you got what your looking for already but, I purchased my 05 Taco around 160k and currently have 260k on it now. 25k of that has been towing a 16', 3000 lb trailer. I've changed the fluid once and am due again. But just use common sense as you tow. stay out of over drive and mind your speed. Ill typically tow at 3000-3500 rpm, 4000 for short stents as I pull hills. Don't use the cruise control as it doesn't anticipate hills like we can.

i don't have a reader that tells me my operating temp in the trany but it is always in the back of my mind and some times worry about it, because you are correct, and know that high temps will break down fluid and stop lubrication.

Your truck didn't come stock with a transmission cooler? i though all tacos with factory tow packages came with one?

At the end of the day use common sense and id hammer the dealership if they don't honor the warranty if something did break, after doing all they recommend. keep a log of tow miles and use. get the name of the guy who's telling you this and pin em down on it if need be.

If you're concerned about the temps, I would recommend just going with a larger cooler. I cannot see warranty being an issue as the dealer would need to prove your better cooler caused trans failure (or whatever issue occurs). If you think you need to change the AT fluid, change it. Same concept as earlier if you're thinking it's going to be a warranty issue.

I picked up a new cooler to replace my stock one since I do haul some camping weight often (and see my temp rise just below 220).

For a hardass dealer, they're more likely to point at my larger tires and lift for affecting my powertrain or mech components vs a cooler or changing fluid.

If you're looking to tow heavy trailers frequently or have concerns with power, then a bigger truck might be the next consideration.
