    Hey All,

Its gonna be time for me to move to a new truck soon here and wanted to see if I can get some opinions on real world value for my Taco.

I'll post some pics soon to help assess, but here's the basics

2005, TRD Sport, Indigo Ink, 4 door, standard (short) bed. 240k miles.

Highlights: Sotashi (spelling) style grille, built by me; HID retrofit headlights with Morimoto parts and halo daytime run lights also built by me, set up for halos to be on when car is on and turn off when headlights turn on; Morimoto LED fog lights, gen 3 TRD off-road full suspension package (fully assembled fronts, rear shocks and leaf springs) - roughly 60k miles on this suspension; 4 Runner based brake upgrade (fronts), 4 Runner wheels and 265/70 tires, 4 Runner wheels mean no spacers needed to clear brakes; relatively new front wheel bearings from 05Taco4x4 from here on the forums (installed when brake upgrade was done); 09+ OEM LED tail lights.

Truck runs smooth and strong. I drive very easy in general. Always changed oil at the dash reminder light (4k) with either Mobil 1 or Valvoline full synthetic. Have changed plugs twice, last at about 180k, changed alternator.

The bad: Paint is pretty whipped, roof especially, but hood is also fully peeled, sides arent terrible though, Small bit of wear on the outside side of the drivers seat.

These right here are going to have a bigger affect on resale value than any of the lighting and brake upgrades. 95% buyers don't care about modifications unfortunately. If you're patient you may find a private party buyer that will appreciate the upgrades you've done

    Start with KBB

Yeah I know general resale doesnt care about mods (even dislikes them) but I wondered about the enthusiast audience.

For instance, I'm also selling my other pleasure vehicle, a 2017 Fiesta ST, and its super low miles and a rare color and option combo with some decent mods, and my prospective buyer is willing to come down from NorCal for my over KBB ask because its the right combo of what he wants.

That's the exception, not the rule.

99% of the time you'll be better served putting it back as close to stock as possible and parting the mods out. KBB, Edmunds, and NADA are going to be your real world value estimates. If you get over that, like with your Fiesta, that's great; but you shouldn't be expecting it.
