A little on the expensive side? :rofl:I'm glad to see others getting into the market and I understand their startup costs are high for a limited market item but I have to wonder how many will sell at that price. I do wish them well though.

This shell/camper is a really neat design... but yeah, the price is quite up there. I like that it's low profile and aerodynamic, but the price difference between this and the GFC doesn't make it that much of a competition to me, and likely won't for most of us.

That said, I do hope they succeed. I hope they can find some efficiencies to try to get the price down so they can become competitive.

Check out my build thread (Beginning of Money Pit)
    13k? This is depressing.

for 13k you could get a full on camper, or even a tray system from norweld.

    Hey Everyone,

Let us just start by saying how pleased we are that you are taking the time to think and talk about our design. Leentu has been gestating for over two years and we're beyond excited to finally have our campers for sale to the Taco community. We are genuinely interested in any and all feedback and we want to be as transparent as possible.

When we started this adventure, we were interested in developing a better all-around camper for ourselves,as much as a product for the masses. Scott and I both worked as contractors, drove Tacomas, and wanted an easier way to escape the city on the weekends and vacations. What began as a "what if" over beers quickly became an obsession as more people began to take notice of what we were up to.

To accommodate our ever growing collection of tools, molds, and raw material, I moved into a larger apartment with a garage and eventually we rented a shop space in West Oakland. After months of putting in 6 hour days after 10 hours at a "real" job, mixing resin (ugh)and sanding (itchy!) fiberglass on weekends, swearing at an old Italian sewing machine late into the night, sketching things on cocktail napkins and generally eating, sleeping and bleeding Leentu we had two viable prototypes.

As we got further into our development process,a few things became apparent. First and foremost was that we needed help. Scott and I are passable fiberglass guys but we just didn’t have the tooling or the experience necessary to make a product on the level of quality we were looking for. We started talking to specialists in racing, aviation and even aerospace/defense and eventually partnered with a company with over 30 years of experience in IndyCar manufacturing to help us design and fabricate our production composite parts.

Early on in the design process we decided that very light weight and very high quality were our two most important design considerations. We have no desire to saturate the market with just "another popup."Our autoclave cured composite parts are made in the USA the same way, with the same tools and materials used for Formula 1 cars. Our premium carbon camper is quite literally a full carbon fiber racecar body, built by people who make racecars.

As you would imagine, the ultra-light materials and techniques we're using are not cheap. Neither is keeping the vast majority of our process in the USA. We've done everything we can to reduce our costs within those parameters, going as far as relocating our business (and ourselves) to the Midwest from California and moving as much of the process in house as possible. Our development has been a totally bootstrapped operation, we have no corporate overlords and are only accountable to our customers and our desire to be responsible business owners and people. As of this writing, we are offering discounts of up to 20% off for our Tailored Composite camper, bringing the price to $8,235 (more than $2000 off retail!) and four more discounted carbon units available at $11,895 ($2100 off retail!).

We understand that the price point isn't for everyone, and that's fine. We do however think that for some, the incredibly light weight, durability, styling, and included solar and color matching (or raw carbon!), will make a lot of sense. And we're happy to offer an uncompromising product to them.

Thanks for checking us out, it really does mean the world to us. We hope to see you on (or off) the road soon!

    -Chris and Scott

Hats off to you guys. Everyone dreams, very few have the courage to turn a dream into something tangible. Or should I say, very few create and pursue a vision to its end state. Wish you the best of luck. Great example of why I love coming on this site.

    And a very cool product.
