This won't matter or at least in NC it doesn't under our liability we have to carry a rider called uninsured driver for those that are not on your policy or driving without a license or illegally.

NC they require this as part of our "basic liability" each state is different though.

Oh, that's fortunate. Here in WA, it's an option to add. Unfortunately, I had never heard about it until AFTER I got hit. I had to threaten the guy with legal recourse, before he ended paying me out of pocket from his 401k.

Oh you can still be held liable personally if you don't carry enough to cover damages through ins. and they sue or you did more damage than the ins will pay then it's on you. I found that out the hard way almost having to pay out of pocket so I upped my policy limits substantially and it wasn't a lot more.

Ah... Lessons learned with insurance. It's a shame these things aren't better disclosed up front when purchasing policies. Seems we all have to learn the hard way.

It's also why I am big proponent in knowing what your state requires reading your policies and being informed of everything with ins. then you can make smarter decisions as a consumer of what you think or would like to carry.

I know what you mean. I miss one of my cars that got totaled almost 20 yrs ago. From an illegal hispanic, driving drunk, in a vehicle that was registered to his sister thankfully there was ins. But after he was released on bond he disappeared. That ins. company bent over backwards with me because of the same situation you're in.

Hopefully that happens. He wasn't drunk, but the script is written in a way. I've got a baby on the way too. It's just not good timing.

Damn all you SC getting engaged, married, or havin babies somethings definitely in the water down there. First it was getting rid of the Tacoma's now it's family makin.

Well congrats on the kid. And I hope that this will go smoothly. Also if you research a lawyer and do some consultations a lot of times they only need your statement once and chat maybe a couple of times depending on how things go, but everything is taken off your plate to deal with since that's what you are paying them for.

No front only. Had to buy the whole hub assemblies and went to a mechanic I trust.

Go to the doc if you aren't any better tomorrow. Lawyer up especially if you end up having to be out of work and have injuries.

That seems very high. I've changed a number of those and with a shop full of tools it's less than one hour per side.

Regarding your accident I think that it may be good advise to move fast since the other insurance might reject the claim if they discover the no license thing. Just remember that their usual MO is to settle quickly but LOW.

And the lawyer thing might be a horrible idea. Think about it if the Mexican guy is judgment proof what good is a lawyer. If the guy is broke no lawyer or court will change that for you. Waste of time and money.

If the settlement isn't enough just for property damage then a lawyer isn't worth it but if injuries and time out of work in incurred then a lawyer isn't a bad idea. Also if you push hard enough and don't back down in my experience you can get lawyer fees paid. You aren't going after the individual but the insurance company. I just looked up the SC laws and it is required to have the uninsured driver rider under their insurance policy so that will be covered.
