Currently have issues that I think are related. First is a grind/rubbing that can be felt on the floor right at the tipping point of gas pedal and no gas pedal Its mostly when decelerating. Its not constant, just a second or so of something underneath. Secondly, got a vibration that happens at most speeds off and on, more noticeable at higher speeds. My buddy and I checked everything in the drive train, felt good. Here is what I've done to it in the past few months:

    - got new tires put on with alignment
    - installed new CV axle on the driver's side (NAPA reman)
    - new u-joint that had slight play
    - installed the ECGS front diff bushing for 1st gens, similar to this link: http://www.tacomaworld.com/forum/2n...nt-differential-bearing-vibration-thread.html

Got a kid on the way in less than 5 months, need to figure out soon if we're going to keep this truck or not.

Hmmmmmm is it like a violent vibration when coming to a stop?(shaking the truck) Or is it happening both when you decelerate and accelerate?? Ive been having a similar issue it sounds like...except without any of the grinding.

Not violent but noticeable on the floor on deceleration especially. Ever fix yours or find what it may be?

Found a baby carrier that fits in the back already so should be ok with keeping it.

So I've got a vibration like the first one you mentioned. Mostly noticeable while coasting/decelerating and specifically between 25-35mph. Its a slow, rhythmic "whomp, whomp" generally about 2 seconds apart, doesn't really change when I apply the brakes.

I just replaced some badly warped rotors and thought that was the cause of the problem, but it persists. I just rotated my tires also.. maybe I need to get them rebalanced and an alignment..

    any thoughts on this guys?

hmmm thanks, that does seem alot like whats going on w/ mine..

This morning when it happened I popped it into 4hi and it went away immediately, it also does not occur at higher speeds.

Inverno4 - how did you fix your problem?

If you read further into the thread, East Coast Gear Supply developed a fix. You have to call about 1st gens, it's not on the website I don't think.

oh ok, I thought that ECGS only offered a 2nd gen fix.. (thats a loooong thread lol)

I just took a look at my front diff and DS checking for play, and noticed that the slip yoke has some terrible looking grease coming out of it!! like chocolate pudding! I grease the zerks religiously but maybe a seal is bad or something allowing water in.. idk. I'l look into it more tomorrow and cal ECGS on Monday, thanks
