Contact his chain of command. There's one thing about the military that remains constant....shit rolls downhill.

Edit: And I'm not sure but maybe the JAG office could lend some assistance.

I like the military angle, soldiers are supposed to be people of good character and don't take no for an answer. Push this shitty behavior uphill!

But first try and advocacy group. I don't think he has any right to refuse to return your deposit even if the place was dirty by his standards. He refused to inspect it with you after you vacated and give you a chance to correct unsatisfactory conditions.

I also think that a case could be made that by accepting the keys the realtor was acting as his agent and by inspecting the property and giving you the OK it was as if he had made the inspection

In three months time that lapsed before his inspection a lot of things could have happened in the house. Someone else could have gained access, a homeless person, kids, neighbors...

Sorry you have to go through this, unfortunately there are a lot of jerks out there who take every opportunity to take advantage of others because of greed.

Do you have a lawyer friend that can send him a letter via his unit on your behalf? Most people pucker up when they get that official looking letter from a law office. Just needs to ask him what his attentions are, that sort of thing. If you send it to his him via his unit, than is Sgt or commander will be on him to find out what is going on.

In AZ if he is using a Realtor to collect the keys than they usually are responsible for the walk through. Have you tried getting his contact info from them?

What bothers me is his actions or lack of. The money although important is not as important because I know he has done this before. This is what bothers me most and I don't want him to continue to do this to people.
