Since I stopped driving highway my tank averages 13-14 purely city driving. But if I do a highway trip I'll averAge 21 mpg for a 25 mile highway trip

Nice! Ya my wife's APR Stage 2 Golf R uses 91 here in CO, so I know what you mean. But the golf gets 35 mpg cruising so that's offsets it a lot.

I work 1.3 miles from my house. I average 9 mpg. I haven't had the chance to drive my new truck more than 50 miles in any one trip. And I don't even have 500 miles on it yet. I know, the short drive is not good for the engine but it's just going to have to be okay.

Best I've ever got for mileage with my 16 sport with stock tires was 18.1 went on a 400 mile trip doing 55 miles per hour any other time 14.3 but basically get on the throttle hard ,downshift throttle hard. If I drive 7075 without getting on throttle hard and downshifting and passing I can get 15.8 in a 25 mile stretch. Denver's two miles per gallon when put my off-road tires on.

Damn push to talk doesn't work correctly. was supposed to be if you drive 70-75 miles per hour for 25 miles you can get 15.8 putting off-road tires on you drop 2 miles per gallon because tires go from 50 pounds to 80 pounds each

I have the same model and MT. from M - F it's 100% city driving and the computer spits out around 16.3 MPG. When I calculate the trip miles on paper it comes out to 16.8 MPG. After several fill ups, manually calculating has consistently resulted in a 0.5 MPG difference between the computer and manual calculation.

Once in a while I'll mix in freeway driving and currently the computer is displaying 17.9 MPG with about 3/4 tank left.

my shift point is around 2500 RPM. The truck is slow so I've said fuck it and drive normally.. people can go around me if they really need to beat me to the red light by a second.

I get worse mpgs when I highway drive, 21, compared to city at 23. Might be because I'm a 4cyl though? It also helps mostly all the city roads I drive are 45-50mph speed limits though which seems like the sweet spot.

My 1st Gen and both 2nd Gens averaged about 2MPGs Less on the Highway than what the everyday average was, haven't owned my 3rd Gen long enough to see if the same will apply to it too.

Haha I'm with you I did 10.3 mpgs on the tank before the last and I had to calm my foot down to get it back up to 13-14

Dang I get 16.5-17mpg and I'm heavy footed..... Mine's a manual with a lot of extra weight; I have a full set of steel skids including fuel tank skid, sliders with filler plates, 285s, hi-lift mounted, and an OEM bed mat with tonneau cover. Also I'm regeared to 4.88s with the speedo calibrated.

What type of driving do you do? Is it half city half highway?

Well I work on the strip so I sit through traffic until I get on the freeway and then I got a little bit of city driving after I get off the freeway to get home.

That good mileage for the mods you have on your truck.

    OP here,

I have been calming down on my heavy foot, and I have been getting some really respectable numbers.

    Average tank 18mpg.

Some of my most recent trips were 23mpg, 20mpg, 19.5mpg and 18.5mpg. I am also getting around 16.5 to 18MPG on city. When I am on the clear highway, my current MPG meter is always near 30MPG.

In my old MR2 and 2gen Tacoma 4 cyl, I would always shift at 3-4K rpm, and always throttle blip to shift down...and I would shift down a lot. to where I was always in the gear with the most pull at 3-4k RPM.

I can't lie chirping on second and third gear is alway fun, and it's hard for me not to do it.

I will post pics of my displays shortly.

That's not good for an auto....
