Tacomas have a rear brake proportioning valve that causes it to use less rear brakes without weight in the bed. Carry a load and the rear brakes grab (ware) more.
Thats not to say your brakes don't need to be adjusted.

Its great how every car forums has users who just assume they know more than everyone else on the forum and just accuse people of being ignorant no matter what kind of information was given to them. FYI, I design fuel injection and engine management systems so I have a *pretty good* idea of what I'm doing.

Yes, this anal retentive 'Taco owner took off the drums to see that there was a still factory coating still on most of the contact surface (the missing probably from static state e-brake use)

I brought it back to the dealer and they adjusted the rear brakes and replaced the proportioning valve. They confirmed there was a problem. They are now working properly.

    Well done,
There are so many Tacomas and the level of owners mechanical ability is from full on mechanic to folks that have trouble finding the gas tank.
So don't be offended when people assume the lesser mechanical skill level.
Glad you got it fixed, as you know most sales guys want to make a sale and worry about any problems later.
Lot's of great info here and many very good people.
