I just installed some Dakars on my 05 and it seems the passenger side wheel pivots a bit inward toward the drivers side. It looks as if the axle is out of alignment and angled more towards the driver's side. What is strange is that the driver's side looks perfectly straight.

I've checked the center pins, hangers and made sure to install everything in the right direction with the military wraps towards the front of the truck. I've search the interwebs and it seems the consensus points to a broken or bent center pin but I know for a fact it can't be that. My guess is that i don't have the u-bolt plates aligned properly and one might be pivoting the axle forward. (I might be full of it) But i've run out of guesses here.

The truck does steer straight and vibrates a little when picking up speed and shifting to 2nd gear, which didn't happen before. The vibration immediately ends and doesn't return afterwards at any speed. I drove it after the install to make sure everything seated properly and I noticed no other problems.

    Anyone have any suggestions?

I don't have pictures at the moment since the install was finished late yesterday evening but if you can imagine it, the angle is about 5° towards the drivers side. This isn't much but it's enough to be noticeable and unevenly wear my tires out over time.

I think this has come up before. I think you have 2 different spring packs and the center pins are not in the same location.

Make sure you properly torque your U-Bolts :anonymous:

I'll double check the length just in case. Although I did check to see if they were marked for compensation adjustments before I installed them and they were not. Seemed to me that they were identical.

Would improperly torqued U-bolts cause something like this?

real talk though, are you sure it is not the bed that is off center? That seems to happen quite often.

No, that was a joke. But see my previous comment about the bed alignment.

    Well then.....hahaha

I didn't think about the bed being off center since the vibration started happening.

I've put over 600 miles on the truck since doing this but I can't for the life of me figure out what is causing it. In terms of alignment, the truck is straight as an arrow.

I'm going to install a carrier bearing drop kit to help with the vibration at low speeds. As for the apparent axle misalignment, I'm just going to wait it out and see if I can spot the wear on the tires as confirmation.

I did discover the magical cure to the notorious Dakar squeak though...

Broke down the leafs, sprayed them with a couple coats of chassis paint and sprayed them all down with this:

Not a single squeak since. It has to be this one because it has Silicone AND Teflon. It also helps to keep out moisture and other elements between the leafs. I've ran the taco through mud, whoops, washboard, jumps, dirt, sand and lots of rocks in the last 2 months without a single squeak. I just sprayed down the underside a couple days ago cause it was covered with dirt from the mud that had dried up and everything washed right off. Nothing stuck.

    This works fellas, it works!

Oh and I have the CS47r's without the AAL.
