IMG_3922.jpg IMG_3923.jpg Something I never thought about when one of my rear axle seals started leaking was that the cause was a bad breather valve I did research of people replacing 2 or 3 axle seals and still having issues with them blowing out over and over but never addressing the breather valve as a culprit. I finally saw a YouTube video where someone replaced theirs and it was clogged even though it spun around freely and just looked a little dirty. i recently noticed my passenger rear axle seal is leaking I replaced my breather valve and it was completely clogged even though it spun freely 360degrees. I'm pretty sure I still have to replace the axle seal but at least this one won't just blow out like this one did and save my other side! The valve was only $12 at my local auto parts store. Hoping this helps someone else out.

I did the rear diff breather mod, which also raises the breather up so water isn't sucked in through the seals if you submerse the hot diff in cold water and create a vacuum. Science, yo.

I’ve read this elsewhere regarding axle seals and this issue.

This is one of my theories why the 3rd Gen rear diffs are seaping, the new OE breathers may be faulty.

A few months ago I did the ARB breather relocation into the bed storage compartments, it’s an all open two way valve.
