I have a 05 Taco TRD Sport DCLB. Not too long ago the 2" steel block that I had in the back broke on me. I bought new aluminum blocks and it wasn't until after I got home that I noticed that they were not tapered like the previous ones. How do I know what degree shim I should throw in there or if any at all. Here's a pic of the shim for reference.

I would consider returning those and getting some 2" blocks that are tapered.

I was kind of thinking the same thing. I just slapped those in there since they were the only ones available that I could get same day at that moment. I didn't want to leave my shock compressed without those 2" blocks.

I see on your website that you offer 2" cast iron blocks with u-bolts. Do you happen to know how long the u-bolts are? I couldn't find that measurement. The reason I ask is because after I got the TSB leaf springs, they are thicker than stock leaf springs leaving my previous u-bolts too short. I'm wondering if you're kit would work for me or if I need to buy the blocks by themselves and the longer u-bolts separate.

The are 8.5" Long. We also have 9.5" if you think you need those.

Are they measured from the inside of the u or the outside? I measured the ones I have now from the outside but then I read somewhere that they are measured from the inside.

I agree with YotaDan. It's a lot easier to break a small shim than a 2" steel block.

What exactly are the shims for? Are they necessary?

As far as my limited knowledge goes, it is to correct the angle of the axle and drive shaft. Then again, there's also drive shaft spacers. I think both are intended to eliminate the vibration on take off that you get after adding a suspension lift.
