So the repair shop is going to keep your truck a couple years waiting on a new oem panel to become available ?

Yeah no kidding but you know that’s Toyota they’re pumping out new trucks and don’t wanna make these old parts. Someone told me that before the pandemic they had all these places that built the spare parts but no more

That’s funny. State Farm will do anything to pay 53 CENTS less to replace a headlight with an aftermarket one rather than an OEM one… be glad Allstate is using quality parts for the repair, but get on the phone with the body shop and encourage them to get used OEM parts from a truck that was in a front end collision or rusted frame or soemthing

Absolutely true. In fact, most insurance companies are now insisting on aftermarket crash parts - unless a smart customer demands OEM. (Most folks don't know that there's a pretty significant difference between OEM and aftermarket - even CAPA Certified - parts.) Talk to a body man at any collision shop and ask them what they think of the aftermarket parts. You'll get a long and detailed description of how much they hate them because of how badly they fit.

I know all of this because I deliver OEM parts for a large (40 dealerships) dealer group for a living. Our OEM crash parts business has absolutely gone to crap lately. Much of it is because of the insurance companies insisting on aftermarket parts. Of course, one cannot ignore the fact that the former big three have increased their part prices to bloodletting levels as a result of the recent UAW settlement.

I had the same issue. Truck got rear ended and took out one bed side. Body shop ordered one and 2 months later we were still waiting.

It is a dead issue now. When they went to put the new leaf spring on, they found the frame was bent and insurance totaled the truck. But thanks for offering.

Also, I can't tell from the part number easily if this is a 5' or 6' bed. Please confirm this for us as well. Is this the "Double Cab, Long Bed" and Driver side?

You can search https://www.car-part.com/ and sort by distance to your zip code for
    "Select Part" = Bed, Pickup
    or
"Select Part" = Bed Side, Pickup

One example: There's one in PA for $300. Sure, there will be some more costs for the body shop to prep and paint to match your truck, but at least you can get the truck back together.
