I have had my Toytec lift installed for about 3 months and 3k miles. I recently developed an annoying squeak sound from the back of the truck and upon inspection I found one of my new Bilsteins to look like this. The Bilstein warranty refers me to return to the place of purchase. Upon contacting Toytec and sending these same pictures, they responded by saying:

"Unfortunately Bilstein will not warranty these from what I can see in the pictures. The amount of oil on the shocks is normal according to Bilstein. Here is a link describing their warranty policies. http://www.bilsteinus.com/products/search-service/warranty.html "

Does anybody else's Bilsteins look like this?

Should be able to get it warrantied. I was able to through downsouth motorsports (place of purchase) to get mine warrantied without questions. It was in the same condition. I hope you're able to get yours changed out soon. :)

Two reason this happened, bad part or wrong shock.

What model shock and what lift is in the rear. Might be toytec fault for picking/selling the wrong shock as well based on rear lift.

    This ^^.

I've never had a shock that leaked ANY amount of oil "normally", and certainly not what your pictures show. Toytec's response is complete BS! Makes me happy I bought from DSM...

I'm sure DSMS has records on their side.. After all they have to keep them by law.

    Alan,

I don't want you think that we are disregarding your request so i wanted to make a couple things clear.

We have seen this happen to a number of shocks and we have tried to warranty them as well. Unfortunately from what i can see in your pictures, Bilstein will not warranty the shock for that amount of leakage. Here is a snip on there warranty policy that you posted the link to

As you can see, Bilstein states that this leakage is a completely normal occurrence. With that said, I would recommend pulling the shock and check to see how it compresses, if it comes right back after you release pressure, if there are any odd noises, or if there is any binding in the travel. If your shock does not have any compression or rebound dampening, does not return once after being fully compressed, or binds- That can generally constitute a warranty claim.

Please understand that this is not our choice to not warranty the shock for you as we have to go directly through Bilstein and it is totally up to their discretion whether or not to issue a warranty. If we send your shock in for warranty and Bilstein deems it not a warranty issue, you will be out shipping and your shock as they do not ship shocks back. Because of this, we want to make sure it is something Bilstein will consider for warranty.

If you feel the leaking is excessive or have any other questions, Feel free to PM me on here or give me a call. Our number is 1.866.254.0076 and my extension is 102.

    Thank you
    Dylan

I know this thread is a year old. But has anyone had any issues with them leaking recently? Or did bilstein just have a bad batch?
