I have a 2019 TRD PRO on the way with a manual trans.....i am wanting to know if i can do an aal in the rear for a slight rake or should i just one inch block it? Anyone do this with their PRO or know if the shocks will be overextended?

    Either will lift.

AAL is better of the two.

Don’t need longer shocks but stay less than 1”.

Single leaf AAL is stronger for towing and hauling than a 3 leaf AAL, but it will ride slightly rougher unloaded than a 3 leaf will.

Keep reading through these forums and you’ll find yourself purchasing a full lift in no time.
    :spending:

I have a 3 leaf add a leaf in the rear and the ride is similar if not same as stock. For ride quality and hauling I’d go with an add a leaf.

That's what i don't understand about the trd pro. It is supposively 1 inch higher in the front, but why wouldn't they raise the rear by 1 inch as well to get a slight rake that every truck should have?

Now it's going to look like it's squatting too much everytime you use the truck as a truck.

This is the reason I want just a small lift for the rear but keep the outstanding FOX shocks...

@HeadStrong Off-Road 3 leaf. I also have Fox 2.5’s. Not sure if stock shocks have enough travel for an add a leaf. Send a PM to Headstrong to see what they reccomend, Marie is great!

They do. I wouldn’t recommend that at 1.5” though.

This is where it all begins....Want an add a leaf? You should upgrade rear shocks......Then you should upgrade your fronts to match.....Alignment problems after lift? They have aftermarket control arms for tha......Oh, can’t have a lift without bigger tires......Those tires would look waaaay better with aftermarket wheels.

    I love you, Tacomaworld.

I may just block the sob then. My PRO I ordered tonight and want just a touch of rake and switch out to more aggressive tires

Most trucks come factory with a block in it and so do a lot of lift kits, so i really do not see how a 1 inch block could hurt. I see heavy duty trucks i.e. Ford,GM,Dodge with several inch blocks from factory and those trucks are beasts.

This is true, but definitely dont ask TW if they recommend blocks! HA!

A block will ride harsh....but what is harsh? It all depends on the operator whether or not the ride is "harsh!" My friend has 11,000 miles of only 4x4 + some highway obviously, on his 2017 Tacoma TRDOR....from Colorado to Utah and all of Arizona up to 6-7's on moderate to hard trails (lucky bastard has 2 vehicles and the taco is for 4x4 only!). He has Fox's 2.5 w/ RR front & back w/ 1" blocks.....yup.....1" blocks on a $38k TRDOR and over $2500 in suspension.....with 1" blocks....he has no complaints, never had any issues what-so-ever! With only 1" or lower you dont affect the ride very much, any taller I do not recommend! That being said does it ride as "soft" as a 3-aal or new pack...NO...not at all! He doesn't care either!

My point........everything is subjective, but has a little truth in it. You will have no issues with a block of 1" or less....I'd go with the 3-aal or new leaf pack if you have the money to do it right the first time, as they do ride "better" then the 1-aal or blocks in almost all situations!

In the end I'd just call Marie @HeadStrong Off-Road and she will take care of all your concerns!:amen:

That post has a more than a few inaccuracies..

Stock shocks are stock shocks, even if they say Fox. Not meant for lifted applications, may not have enough length for your lift if you go over 1”. However you choose to get that lift is up to you.
