You will know if your rear shocks are too short after adding the block based on the way the truck drives over simple things like pot holes and especially speed bumps. When the shocks are too short they 'top out' which means they reach the end of their available travel and you will hear a nice bang or clunk along with feeling a harsh ride when this happens. but..... if that doesn't happen with your regular driving all is good!!

Did you get the blocks installed yet? If so, I’m curious if 1” was enough to get the stance you were looking for? I’m looking into doing the same thing on mine, just wanna make sure 1” is enough, and if you were able to do it with the stock fox shocks?

Buy a Pro then get so cheap you want to throw a block in the rear...

    Not computing.

If you are dead set on the stink bug look go AAL.

Ok, so what aal would you recommend that would give me roughly the same lift without having to change my stock Fox shocks out?

    Wheelers is 1.5” :notsure:

You may be able to do a set of Dakars with a leaf removed.

A simple 1 inch block is perfectly fine to add to a pro, you get exactly 1 inch of lift. Soon as you add an AAL you get more lift, typically 1.5 to 2 inches. Do you want that much lift and a rougher ride? All the block bitching about a 1 inch block is bs. Now if you were gonna add a 3 inch block that would be different.

I should add rougher is subjective, firmer or stiffer is what you get from an AAL.

Thanks I appreciate both of your replies. I do understand your gripe about going cheap after shelling out the cash for a pro, but I’d like to utilize the suspension I paid the extra money for. I think it’s pretty funny how much crap people get on here for buying a pro, especially from people who have aftermarket pro parts on their trucks.

Just throw a 1” block in it. You’ll be fine for what you want.

I'm running 5100s front and back, 1 inch rear block. No issues, rides great and I did put about 500 lbs in the rear. She did fine and looks level, didn't really notice much bro lean.

When adding the 5100’s you will notice they are no longer than stock unless you choose to go with the extended length. My thought on this is it seems wasteful to replace with same length as stock shocks. I have the toytec boss non Resi rears on order that are about 3 inches longer than stock at 26 inches extended, the extended 5100’s are about 27.25 inches.

The difference becomes very apparent when wheeling, especially if you aren’t locked in the rear.

The 5100s that were used on my truck the rears were recommended because they are to accommodate a one inch height increase.

I get that, but if you want to have down travel when off road to keep wheels on the ground for traction longer is where it is at.

I don’t doubt that they ride better so I understand there is some benefit to same length.

I have a 1” block in the rear. I had about 600lbs of roofing in the back and it barely put it under the front ride height. You DEFINITELY can feel the shocks though on bumps. On some bumps I didn’t go slowly over I think I felt what was the shock bottoming out, so not good:oops:

Aside from that, great effective and cheap way to add a little more oomf.

    Just my .02:)

If you’re bottoming out the shocks before hitting bump stops you have a configuration issue that will lead to blown shocks very soon.
