Hi all, I have a 2” lift block kit coming along with new shocks/boots/u-bolts. I have been searching for methods to instal these blocks and I have found 2 general recommendations.

    1) jack stands under frame, removing wheels/shocks, then removing one sides u-bolts and lowering axle on that side down to install block.
    2) blocking rear wheels, removing shock mount and u-bolts, then jacking up on the leaf spring from just in front of the perch to gain required clearance to install blocks before lowering again.

My question is this… would jacking up on the leafs cause unnecessary strain on bushings/springs themselves? Would setting the frame on jack stands where wheels are still contacting ground enough to chock them but the leafs are drooped, then jacking from leaf be a better alternative?

I ask as I do not have adjustable jack stands to lower the axle and would rather not risk dropping the axle too far with a jack while the wheels are removed and possibly damage brake lines, etc. Thanks for any input you may have.

This. Blocks are generally frowned upon for truck lift. I used some at one time and truck would jump and sway when hitting pot holes or rough road. AAL is much better. Your gonna need jack stands sooner or later and never work under your truck without them!!! Girlfriend lost her father that way.
