I got a leak coming from a rubber boot mechanism on my brake line in the rear of my 96 Tacoma, it drips onto my driver side shock and is peeling the paint. Need to fix it..anybody have this happen before? Do I need a new line or is there a seal I can replace?

a pic would help. if it is the brake line or hose, you probably need a new one.

I just noticed the exact same problem, same leak on shock. I squeeze the boot and fluid shoots out. What was your fix , is it just a dust boot or something special

sounds like the rear proportioning valve is leaking.

if it's coming from the valve attached to the frame, right above the rear differential, to which brake lines connect to, then it's definitely your proportional valve that is leaking.

There is a replacement boot kit for this:
04477 BUSH & BOOT KIT, LOAD SENSING SPRING
    04477-60010 (01/1995 - 08/2000)
    04477-60040 (09/2000 - 08/2004)

Though, if your valve isn't working properly or if it is leaking due to being very rusty, it's better to remove it completely, as a new valve is pretty pricey

You can just remove the valve. Maybe put in a manual one up in the engine . The top line coming from the front of the truck to the valve is the one you want to connect to the rubber flex line that goes down to a splitter and then to the rear drums. You will need to plug off the bottom line that is also coming from the front of the truck as well. Once you have that done, you can remove the valve and bleed the brakes starting with the rear passenger side and you should be good to go. You should at some point put in a manual valve if you tow a lot or put a lot of weight in the bed of your truck.
