Rear brake self-adjusting way too tightly.

    Thank you for the clarification! I’ll get to doing my research again as it’s been a while since I’ve adjusted everything. I also started a new thread on it for other input/info.

    3rz to 2Rz bebuilt block and new heads
    I bought some $28 bendix shoes from napa.......
    after about 6 months.....forward shoe on each side showed significant wear....
    So I pulled them off and bought a real pair from mcgeorge......
    Super careful to lube and make sure those dust sheild contact points on inside of shoes were smooth....

    I had forgotten that I posted in this thread over 6 years ago.

    I think my problem was that I used aftermarket shoes. (Actually, I've been using aftermarket shoes since 1960.) I didn't use Genuine Toyota Parts. Other folks on this forum have mentioned similar problems that went away when they installed shoes they had purchased from a Toyota dealer. I don't know exactly what the difference is between Toyota and aftermarket shoes, and my problem has since gone away. If I ever have to replace the brake shoes again on my Tacoma I'll be sure to use parts purchased at a Toyota dealer.
