Rear brakes feel like they lock up

I’ve looked everywhere for a reasonable explanation but haven’t found a solution.
    Here’s the issue:
Once in a while when I get into the truck and start it, I put it in gear and it feels like I am doing a break stand. The rear passenger side tire spins but the others don’t. It feels like the truck wants to take off. I have to rock it back and forth, then it frees up. It is extremely spontaneous. It seems to happen when it is really cold out(it could be a coincidence.) I do use my parking brake everyday. I’ve taken it to the dealer and they couldn’t find anything. (Of course it wasn’t happening while it was there, and it was extremely cold).
    Has this happened to anyone???

It’s the parking brake sticking, don’t set it wet,,, or at all. This has been documented/asked over and over, it’s common.

I usually park on a hill or a slope. If I replace the EM brake, will it resolve the issue?

Only aesthetic mods so far Leer 180 cap & Clazzio covers on order.
    Probably not.
Moisture get between the brake shoes and the brake drum. When it's cold, it freezes and binds the shoes to the drum. Another possibility (though unlikely) is "flash" rusting of the drum binding the shoes to it.
Replacing the shoes is not going to resolve problem. Not using the EM when wet and destined for freezing temps will minimize or eliminate the problem..

Recently had this issue, any time the drums got wet it was locking up. The shoes still had life left on the top half but bottom half was almost gone. Replaced shoes, seems to be good now. Mine had a fair bit of dust in everything maybe that was part of the problem.

If you replace the factory shoes with aftermarket shoes with ceramic friction material, it may help to reduce flash rusting. Another thing you can try is doing a few high-speed braking events to burn up any moisture in the drums before parking your truck.

No money, all went to truck...
Does it usually happen after a wash? If you wheels get really wet, drive it around for a while before setting brake.

Happened to me once. Scared the shit out of me because the truck wouldn't budge for a brief period. Never, ever happened on the old '94 truck.

Thank you for the advice but I shouldn’t have to do that.. it’s a 19… not brand new but not old either..

My ‘23 has done this several times after a wash. Perhaps it’s a modern “feature” my older trucks didn’t have.:D

As someone who has been driving for over 6 decades I can assure you that this is NOT a uniquely Tacoma issue. While it's not common across all vehicles, it does occur occasionally with rear drum brakes.
