My wife's Tacoma was rear-ended last night. Really just a nudge while she was stopped at a light. (Someone texting?) I can find no visible damage to the bumper..no scratches, no dings...none. The truck has the towing package trailer hitch. There is only a small mark on the surface of the receiver. However, the bumper is slightly out of alignment about 1/8 to 1/4 inch when comparing left side to right side. No vertical discrepancies.

Is it possible for the bumper to have been like that from the factory? I've owned lots of vehicles and on a few of them this was true. Guess I never really checked her truck out this closely before.

The driver who hit her damaged the grill on his car and that was pretty much it. He may actually have been stopped and let his car roll forward under her rear bumper.

I plan to run the truck by the dealers body shop after the Thanksgiving holiday to see what they have to say.

Just wondering about factory specs. Any suggestions?

I've seen them slightly misaligned before even when new.

I ran my 2007 for about 3.5 years and one day I got looking and the bumper was a little out of alignment. I don't know if it was always like that (doubtful, I would have noticed) or if I got hit but I loosened the bolts, re-aligned it and tightened it down. It's back to being perfect again. I do not have the factory tow package but I did add a Hidden Hitch, not sure if that would matter or not.
