Is my rear bumper supposed to be closer to the body? This truck was rear ended previously and repaired. I wonder if the bumper was installed incorrectly?

The gap should be parallel. Your bumper is twisted. The OEM bumpers are really weak. It only takes a very slight bump to bend them.

Well the gap should be equal...I'd say the top is out a little far. How's the other side?

The top is exactly where it is supposed to be according to factory specs. The bottom is in. Like Muddinfun said, they are very weak. Ive had to "adjust" mine when i bought a new replacement. Just grab hold of the bottom and pull to align. It will bend quite easy. If you go to far just push it back a bit. Again they are weak. Be gentle with it.

id say that is too much, loosen and see if you can adjust or check for any bends

Try adjusting the brackets. When the brackets are loose, the bumper has vertical articulation.
