Got the license plate backup camera today and it was a 15 min installation (plug and play). It arrived very quickly from the west coast.

With the gate down (since I have a short bed I leave the gate open for the extra length.

I find that it's better at night due to it does not face the license plate lights.

You don't even need to remove the old camera I just plugged in the new one behind the license plate where the OEM plug is and used the blank plug that comes with the truck (for when you remove the gate) to protect the old set up. That way you can always go back to OEM.

that's pretty slick. wouldn't work on some of the swing away bumpers since the license plates are recessed. and my only comment ( and it may be no big deal ) is the camera would then be offset quite a bit when used with the UltraSwing.

It comes 2 other brackets so you can screw on or stick and a few feet of wire but it's made to be centered.

Tacoma World is such a wonderful resource. I finally pulled the trigger on. 1Up bike rack for the fat tire bikes. So day one I want to have a camera relocate option. Hoping the loom is long enough to use this kit. Called the 888 number and waiting on a call back. If this works out I’ll post it up. Thanks for doing the research OP.

If you don't get an answer I will measure the length I have tied to the harness when I get home. Just have to re tie the cable afterwords. Also found that their customer support online was quick to answer questions.

I have that one to replace the OEM camera. I installed a 4x Innovations bumper with swingout and Jerry can holder. Obviously the OEM camera only showed me a great view of the back of my spare tire. I drilled a hole in the new bumper and installed the linked camera. If anyone goes this way, chuck the included hole saw. It's a pile. A 7/8 hole saw will work with a little filing. The camera is plug and play and is better resolution than the OEM. It has a very wide field of view. I can see a bit of the shackle that's right next to it AND the bottom of the Jerry can mount.

Pulled the trigger; standard loom is 5’ with a 6” pigtail. I’ll post is when I get it and install.
    Cheers
