2005 Toyota Tacoma 4x4 has a check engine P0500. Took to the dealership, they informed me the issue was a rear combination meter. The dealership advisor called and said the manufacturer no longer created the part and I would need to source a used part and have it verified by CA DMV. Any idea where I could source a used combination meter? Additionally, any insight on verifying the part by DMV?

I also have a 05 same issue I purchased a used speedometer from eBay for 100.00 (I hope your talking about the speedometer and not a taillight)but the mileage will differ from the one you have now just to see if my P0500 code would clear was also told by dealer was the speedometer was bad. I plan to send my original out for repair it runs from 150 to 200 depends on who you use I’m not sure about DMV but I think it has to do with the mileage when you go inspection they record current mileage

You can go to your local Napa, They can get Rebuilds. A lot of the places that rebuild them can put the same milage of them as your truck has or they will give you a certificate due to the mielage difference.
