I have searched around and have not found any answers on this one.... Has anybody noticed that the parking assist beep volume can be changed but not the RCTA alert? Its so quiet its only really possible to hear it with the radio off. I've looked through the manual and settings with no luck. Anybody had success with raising the volume?

I've noticed that too. It would be good if it was a little louder. Maybe dealer can set it louder??

    BTW...Welcome to TW!

I can't say mine is quiet - it's very audible. But I don't have parking sensors (Canadian TRD Sport). I wonder whether the two are somehow related. It would make sense to have different noises for RCTA and sensors.

Parking sensors are a lot louder than the RCTA beeps, but the park assist sound volume is also adjustable.

I'm having a problem hearing the CTA beeper.... I would love to raise the volume for it, OR, replace the OEM beeper with something I can hear....

My hearing is going and the pitch of that thing is in a range that I cannot hear...!! (Just like crickets).. Can't hear those damn things either..! My passenger (wife) can hear it, not me.

Does anyone know specifically where the sensor is located? I'm asking because if you replace the rear bumper you can get an aftermarket bumper to have the parking sensors, but would you still be able to use the RCTA system?

Edit: I found this article with the location. Is it actually in the bumper or on the frame behind the bumper? If you take off the bumper will you lose that ability completely?

it uses the same sensors as the blind spot monitoring which are mounted in the bumper end caps. I have seen a couple aftermarket bumpers with cutouts for them but not many, most just keep the park assist sensors and have you remove the BSM or relocate it to under the bumper.

I had no idea the cross traffic alert even made noise.... I guess I'll need to pay attention to that on the way home tonight.....

its only when baking up, it alerts you when a car is coming, very useful backing out of tight parking spaces.

I thought we were talking about the Blind Spot monitoring, not the back-up beepers. My reverse beepers make all sorts of noise, but I guess I don't understand what the RCTA is... To be fair, I I almost exclusively back into parking spots, I hate the feeling of backing out blind.

RCTA uses the BSM sensors to detect if a car is coming at you while bakcing it. it is independent from the back up sensors whic hare the little dots on the bumper. you can test it out by having a buddy run across behind your truck while you have it in reverse.
