Has anyone relocated their rear differential breather? I installed this YotaShop kit for my 3G years ago, worked great to move the breather valve from the axle to a higher location between the bed and fender. This avoids plunging the valve into cold water when fording a creek.

I think the barb they supply is a 1/8 NPT thread (tapered). Probably still the same on 4G?

Yes and I believe it’s the same exact as the 3G. I’ll say this, the ARB relocater kit (got one for dirt cheap) works for both 3G/4G

These were the individual parts used to relocate the breather on my 3G.

Newbie question here...why does the diff have a breather valve, and what's the issue with it getting wet in a creek?

Diff needs a breather to prevent pressure building up as gears and oil gets hot. Without a breather, the pressure will force oil through seals and gaskets and cause leaks.

the relocation is important because water crossings can rapidly cool the fluid, resulting in negative pressure that pulls air into the diff. If that happens underwater, you contaminate your gear oil with water. By moving the breather up, you ensure it only ingests air

if you don’t cross water deeper than the bottom of your axle housing, it’s not a very necessary mod.

    Awesome, thank you for that!
