Wow how can anyone argue that it's not Toyota's fault? lol. They probably had some machine do it anyway that might have had the bolt miss aligned. I've never, ever seen a bolt get stripped up taking it out, only putting it in. I've stripped out hex heads, broken the head off... but never stripped threads pulling bolts out.

I vote let the dealer take care of it. There is a chance you wont get all the shavings by simply changing the oil. Let Toyota take responsibility for it.

Harden your bark, there are storms on the horizon.

1/8" NPT pipe thread. get a tap, grease it (to hold shavings while re-tapping), then change diff oil...you should be fine. there's a magnet on the drain plug that should catch any small particles left over. 1/8" combination nipple (1/8" pipeXwhatever size hose you're using..preferably brass) available at any decent plumbing/hardware store.

    you can do it.

What? 1/8" nipple, brass hose, hardware store? lol

I am not going to tap it, I dont have to the tools and I dont want to buy stuff to fix this (I dont feel I need to). If this was not my brand new truck (say my 94), I would not have a problem doing it, but given the situation and circumstances, Toyota can deal with it.

Just got back with my truck. The threads were just a little messed up so they cleaned them up. The service manager told me it would be a few days to order the replacement part, but they would put the adapter piece in if I had it. I gave him the piece and showed him the hose I wanted to hook up (half the mod was finished). He installed the piece and attached the hose for me...I had the dealership finish/install an aftermarket modification!!!!

I took my truck to Appleway Toyota in Spokane, WA. Very nice and knowledgeable people, they even washed my truck for me :)

Did they change the diff fluid? If not, I'd do it myself if I were you.

Hey didn't even notice you were from that area. People tend to be pretty courteous in the NorthWest. I had my Rhino Linng job done there at a shop in Spokane.
