4runner seats and center console, ARB rear locker, Icon 1.5” AAL, Bilstein 5100 on 4th notch in front (to support future tube bumper & future winch), 4600s in the rear. In-Cab CB radio. Hella 500 Driving lights. All-Pro Baja front bumper.
After some fun in the desert last month, I noticed I scraped up my rear diff pretty badly on some rocks. Front is fine due to skids, but my rear axle is completely unprotected.

Can someone recommend either a skid or effective cover for 1st gen rear diffs? I did some searching here as well as google and it seems the options are somewhat limited. Most of the posts I found here alluded to products which are no longer available (BAMF, Barnes).

No factory e-locker either, which seems to further narrow it down. Most of the results I found said they *only* fit with a factory e-locker diff. I do have a locker but it’s an ARB, and the line for that won’t be in the way of a skid/shield.

I’m pretty sure that’s indicating non-e locker axles for 2016-2023 models.
For 95-04 I think it’s only for e-locker diffs. At least that’s how I interpreted it. I think it has to do with where the drain/fill ports are located.

There's also a difference between that Marlin face armor (protects the back) and the skid that BAMF offered, which protects the bottom of the rear diff. Not sure which you need.

My recommendation - having run a BAMF skid - would be to reach out to Jerry @JLee. That guy has been amazing for the community, and he might just help you out if you're paying $425 for a diff skid. As I recall, the reason it is "elocker only" is b/c of the drain hole. If you can cut your own drain hole (and optionally weld a little plate into the one he cuts on the waterjet), it doesn't matter and you're golden.
