Rear diff locker will not engage (bad actuator?) - Help

    What about the grease that goes on the gears of the motor?

    Same thing. Toyota uses their crap dielectric grease on the gears. Using permatex on them would simply be an upgrade as the Toyota grease dries out.

    Hey guys, I have a similar problem with my locker but a little different. My locker engaged but now won’t disengage even though I come out of 4 low and 4 high. Anyone experience this? The weird thing is that when I engaged the diff lock the red light kept flashing so I though it didn’t lock. Unfortunate part is that it did but won’t come out. Tried lots of figure 8’s in 4wd and 2wd but won’t release. Would it be a similar situation to many described here - the actuator needs a clean? Thanks

    probably corrosion at a different part inside the locker motor if I had to guess... take the locker off the truck and clean up the internals. bench test. Then try again.

    I'm about to put a locker actuator back on a 3rd member, should I use gasket maker to seal it to the body of the 3rd or were you talking about just using it for putting the actuator body back together?
