Rear diff mod: my truck is stuck?!

I did the rear diff mod... I undid the stock breather... Noticed a little gas escape.. screwed in the union and ran a hose up behind the tail light. I went to reverse the truck out of the driveway and when my rear tires hit the street from the sidewalk they locked up... Wtf?! So I put it in drive went forward like 4 feet and same thing locked up! Reverse... Nothing.. drive... Goes forward like 6 feet and the rear locks again.
I undid the breather and put the stock one on and same thing!!! What did I do wrong???
I appreciate any help.

Edit: I was at the dealer today for my 10k service and my rear brakes were squeaking so they opened them and they said they cleaned the dust and lubed them. I wonder if Thier not installed right and water got in and somehow is causing this? Because Im sure nothing fell inside the diff.

Edit: turned out the dealer earlier in the day mis-adjusted my parking break reinstalling it. i didnt engage the parking break till i got home in my driveway. then later when i disengaged it and backed out of the driveway RIGHT AFTER doing the diff breather mod the problems and my insanity insued.

I don't have an answer but before you even think about taking that thing to get looked at make sure there's no evidence you were monkeying around back there. Messing with the vent or even clogging it will not cause a lockup situation Immediately if ever. My best guess is either pure coincidence or you messed something up unrelated to the breather.

Put the truck in neutral, parking brake off, and jack up the rear axle. Can you spin the tires at all?

 

I put everything back to how it was.
I was extremely careful doing everything from the beginning lol I have no idea what I could have done wrong. I didn't let anything get inside the hole while swapping to the little screw in union. I had washed the truck recently... You think it's possibly the drums? I'm so lost...

 

It will roll but it is just random how far it will go in drive or reverse each time I try..m

 

Unless you dropped a hardened door hinge pin in there. Changing the diff breather has nothing to do with what you got going on. Unless you somehow Willy Bobo'd some electrical connection somewhere somehow. Flailing around under there. But it being a '17 I can't imagine anything being stuck or seized soooooo.....it sounds like you just got Turd Gen'ddddddd!

 

There have been cases where the drums lock up......esp when using the e-brake, on an incline.

I'd take the diff breather off and everything you touched, and take it to the dealer. Pretend you did nothing and it was working fine before. And did this out of nowhere.

 

I ran out of things to try but am going to remove the hose I ran and make sure I remove traces of what I did, that should be the last thing. And take it to the dealer tommorow... Service department open on Sundays?
I'm so fucking lost as to what happened...
For others who did the mod when you took your breather out you heard a little gas escape? I read that was normal and wasn't enough to cause the stock breathers spring to allow it to escape.

 

Put it in neutral, rev to about 4K and hold it while you pull the shifter into "D".....something will move! Haha, seriously though, don't do that.

Correct me if im wrong but if the rear diff was the problem I dont think it would roll 4 feet or 6 feet in one direction or another i would guess it has something to do with the tranny.

 

Are any warning lights popping up?

 

I think it may be the tranny because it won't go into neutral anymore.. if I put it in drive it will roll a few feet forward and if I stop, out it one click up to neutral it's as if my e brake is on... Then put it up one more to reverse and it might or might not reverse a few feet then lock up again.
At this point right now it will only roll forward in drive and not reverse anymore or neutral and I've ran out of driveway ahead of me lol so I'm stuck until morning when I can get it towed to a dealer.... Anyone know if service departments are open on Sundays? I feel not...
