tow truck is on the way...:censored::(
but i think the e brake/ its cable is the culprit. the lever feels weird and the brakes themselves feel weird too. and if im baaaaarely inching forward with my foot on the brake and i baaaaaarely pull the e brake the truck LOCKS up the back (just like what has been happening since this started.) come to think of it i didnt put it in reverse or pull the ebrake until it was in the driveway when this all happened.
all this leads to yesterdays service on the brakes

I would pick a different dealer than the one that messed with the brakes!

Cool , most likely a very simple fix for such rotten problem . If you ever did a rear drum brake job before it would not be hard to see if you took the drums off and it may be only on 1 side. Maybe a broken spring or something not hooked up right . Any way you did the right thing in not driving it . I would ask the dealer for something for the aggravation and time lost from work though . Discount dealer cost for parts you want ? Free oil changes for x amount of miles etc.
Anyway , be glad it is not a trans/trans case problem .

I thought of taking it elsewhere but there's no other Toyota dealer I feel comfortable with in the area and I feel the ones who may have fucked it up should be the ones to fix it.
Yea I thought of that... I'll talk to the service writer. He's a cool dude. maybe he can hook it up

Well see tommorow morning what the real deal is. :(

Are you going to have it dropped off in front of service doors. I would.

+1 for this. It's going to get their attention for sure. Stick the keys in an envelope, put it in their night drop, write on the envelope in big sharpie "TACOMA REAR DRUMS SEIZED AFTER SERVICE (123)555-1212" (your number obviously)

You'll have made it their priority by being in their way, but at the same time no one is going to call you an asshole for doing that over a non-functional truck.

========== Semi threadjacking random thought below =============

I find it funny that some posters were talking trash about the old Rangers having issues like this, but some members unhappy w/ 3rd gens are getting all hot and bothered about the new Ranger. "I can't wait to trade my turd gen problems for Ford problems!"

2017-02-27_10.50.11.jpg  right out front the gate Sunday afternoon... Went there at 7:00 this morning and got a carolla loaner....
Service writer was cool about it. Said his tech probably messed up reassembling the drums... I told him to get my truck a tech who knows what he's doing.

Modded it so much it turned into a 4Runner
99% chance the spring supplying pressure to bottom of the brake shoes came off. Had this happen to a friend's truck on the trails a couple of weeks ago. 15 minute fix.

Not well played. I work for a dealer and I can tell you first hand that being a dick is the fastest way to get put on the back burner and eventually asked not to return. Taking the truck back is one thing, but to disrupt their business on a Monday morning by dropping a disabled vehicle right in front of the entrance and then making a comment like getting a tech that knows what he's doing is a little much. Realize that mistakes happen and be polite to the people that will fix your truck. Just a different point of view from the inside that most of you don't realize. Good luck!

Like the tech who thought for sure he had fucked his own truck up doing nothing but a diff breather mod.

Good thing you don't fix your own truck, hey buddy?!

Heaven forbid you let a moron touch it.

    Yes.

But if they did break work the day before....I would say it has something to do with that.

yes being a dick doesn't help, but your dam right that I would drop my brand new truck in front of the service doors when they just had it. Mistakes happen, but what happened to check your work? I just got my truck back from an accident I was in. I got it up to 55/60 and it starts shaking like a dog shitting razor blades. I drove it directly back and parked it in front of the main door and was respectful but firm they needed to fix my truck. The shop foreman and tech were driving in with-in 5 minutes.

Wanting it fixed quickly isn't being a dick.

Being a dick is being a dick, though.
