replaced a tire and wheel bearing. Seems to be better, but in my head the truck will never be the same.

Maybe you are a good dealership. Mine sucks. I've played nice over the years and it has got me nowhere. They have never performed any warranty work even when justified, just always blame it on my 265 75 tires. Every single time. Recently there were even unable to find any of the Toyota recommended fluids for my vehicle? Really? I even gave them the Toyota part numbers for diff, tranny, and tcase flyids and they told me they could not find those numbers. Ended up ordering with the same numbers online. I'm just done with Toyota dealerships. I refuse to even let them change the oil after the last few times where they did not even top off fluids or grease the zerks.

So if parking a truck they broke during routine maintenance is a dick move so be it.

Sad to say but I doubt the OP will ever really know the truth of what was wrong , failed part or tech error. As long as it is fixed and no out of pocket , well shite happens .

lol written like a true dis-service writer. How about you worry about the customers weekend that was disrupted? So he's blocking one lane, looks like there's at least 4 other service lanes.

I'm not a service writer at my dealership just so you guys know. I work in the body shop. I'm on the same page with you guys, just offering a perspective from the inside is all.

In my shop(not automotive) it wouldn't so much be where the truck was parked, but the comment about a tech that knows what he is doing.
Comments like that do spread to the shop and one rule of any shop is, Never piss off your mechanic. Mistakes happen especially when you are working on flag time and are trying to support a family, it can be easy to skip a step. I am a certified Master tech in my field and have overlooked things on a Friday because I need a few extra jobs to pad my check.
So, the tech may know what he is doing, but could have been pressured from the shop foreman or personal reasons to squeeze a few more jobs in before the weekend.

OK so you fuck someone's truck up doing ROUTINE maintenance and the owners being a dick cause he has to be late or take off work to come back AGAIN and get the work done right.

Add insult to injury and you're putting the "dick" on the back burner.

That's backward logic my friend. If you were the person I was working with at the dealer and put me on the back burner for that... my ass would be chapped for sure and guess whose ass gets a chapping next... you my friend as soon as we have a discussion with the sales mgr and the service mgr .... you and the mechanic both get chapped asses and the mechanics no longer even talk to you anymore and make your work life a living shit hole..

Turn in your Bro card bro... you get a bro-spension ..... not perm but still, just sayin.

You're not making a very strong case against not being a dick...

Waged-based incentives were driven out of responsible businesses decades ago, for the very reasons you cite - they create quality issues. My company designs and manufactures OEM automotive products (switches, sensors, actuators, front-axle disconnects, etc.) and it is part our culture that error and mistake proofing is never short-cut.

To the OP, I realize you were upset that your truck has an issue and you decided the best approach was to demand attention and berate the tech. So having done that, I have a question - if it turns out that you cocked something up by trying this mod, are you man enough to walk back in and apologize?

    True that....

You're a borderline dick so I'm going to be a full on no-bro dick!

That never worked for me, really it never did.

I think I only was a dick once tho, and lernt my lesson. :D

Don't be a dick bro.... step back away from Dick-dum and come over to the friendly side and be a bro.

Yeah like when my service mgr says to me: "3rd gen huh? I don't like em" He's got the same truck but a 15... I'm like: "so I wont have to worry about any joy riding??"

Let me clear a few things up...

i work on my own trucks... when something needs to be done i get it done myself. i had an 05 Taco that never saw the dealer in its life while i owned it.

What i dont know how to do is work on Drum brakes and what i also dont know is everything. i have time to learn anything but not in this situation where its not my job to fix it.
This is a brand new truck, obviously im going to take it back to who in the end messed it up.

I have never installed a diff breather before and once i ran into that issue i was so lost i jumped on here looking for advice from people who have much more knowledge than me. in the end it wasnt related to what i did just a giant coincidence.
there is no need to call me a moron. i came here for help because i clearly didn't know.

Also i was not being a dick in any shape way or form. you dont know me so dont talk to me like you do.

When i got there i walked up to the group of salesmen who were ignoring me and politely asked where the tow truck should lay my truck for it to stay overnight... they said put it right out front. so thats what i did.

Also like i said my service writer is a reference hence friend of a friend who is my age... and me telling him get a tech who knows what hes doing should go without saying!
My truck is one of Toyota's Flagship vehicles. i would imagine the tech would be knowledgeable AND check his work.

Mistakes happen but this is kind of crazy.

And yeah my weekend was ruined, i had 3 other trucks going out with me on a ride to gorman that i was the organizer of and it fell through cause my truck couldn't move...

not to mention i was 2 hours late to work...

ALSO i made arrangements to get a ride to be there at 6:45 before they opened to make sure i didnt cause problems with the truck there and get things sorted and get a rental...

im a very nice guy, just dont fuck with me.
i have patience and i was very patient throughout this ordeal with the dealer.

Shit happens. Not sweating your choice of parking space or anything else, just didn't think you slamming an unknown tech was warranted.

Quite a bit of time passed since you made the thread before you were told it probably wasn't your fault. So.. shit happens, right?

Just didn't see the need in slamming the techs who'll be fixing your car. If a dealer service dept. sucks, find another. Otherwise, be decent with their assembly of humans who are all naturally going to fuck up sometimes. They're the ones who you'll need on your side when the shit really hits the fan.

Just my .02. Nobody had a good morning this morning, when a customer gets towed to the doors after a minor servicing.

Sucks for you, especially, but like I said..

    :amen::ohsnap:

And why shouldn't u EXPECT the person getting PAID do his job and do it right.

I'm getting ready to do the diff breather (BRC) as well. But changing out the valve shouldn't have done it. But hell crazier things have happened.
We're u running it to the engine compartment? And how many were u going to do ie: front and rear diff., tranny?
    Also where r u located?
