Proper torque anyways is my guess. I'm not mad cause lets face it humans are humans and we all make mistakes I'm just glad they are willing to help. All I know is it was torqued and the nut was punched into place so from that moment on something happened or wasn't right.

By pin your bearing what you mean? That's a new one for me. When I was on the phone they were saying something along the lines of the bearing size use isn't enough bearing to handle the load/ torque of these trucks.... In the mean time I decided to take the time to fix everything rear end related. Removed those stupid balance beads out of my tires and shimed my leafs at two degrees to fix driveline angle. Much smoother ride! But now I have a noisy diff :( lol

What I was told in regards to pining bearings is that the Toyota and suzuki bearings do not fit as tight as other truck diffs and are undersized as they said. This can lead to the bearing wearing down and spinning. To fix it they drill a small hole through the bearing and put a pin in to stop it. You could have a bad bearing that's not sitting tight, causing slop.

Hmm that's a weird one, drilling through the bearing sounds like a horrible idea in my eyes but what do I know lol, thanks for explaining.

Agreed, and if you're really skating bearings well either your bearing or your shaft is fucked and you could always try using retaining compound (green loctite).

I looked back at what they did, was under the impretion they did something else and didnt even explain it right so scratch what I said earlier but what they did is took a punch and made a small indentation/dimple around the race so that it wont spin in the carrier. Less chance of spinning as my origional was partialy spun and the bearing was in bad shape, not unheard of with toyota diffs and could be the problem with Ghost's, a bad pinion bearing. Loctite has a retainer that does the same thing, keeps the bearing from spinning.

I moded 1999 Taco so much it had turned to Land Cruiser
After reading this thread one can get headache.
If you use correct bearings you need the press to get races and bearings on. Spinning them is quite impossible unless somebody run them with out oil and they welded themselves together.

    ^^^^

I've never ever heard of a pinion bearing spinning. They're pressed in hard. There's zero reason for it to spin.
