So they fixed it and it actually seems to be running WAY better. Pumped about it.

Here is what they changed on mine back in October, I believe one of these these things is axle seals hahaha.IMG_0459.jpgMine was not on the recall list, (SR 5MT) so it was all done under warranty.

Um yes if it was low on gear oil it would most certainly run better (quieter) and have better mpg's/smoothness.

Yeah but its BS even if they just retorque it, it will still leak eventually in time. The gaskets and bolts that they used were cheap quality. They replace them with better ones.

Keep in mind warranties have no effect on recalls. If you truck is on the list they have to fix it period mileage doesn't matter.

It is just the gaskets and nuts that are replaced--the OEM studs remain--leading me to believe the studs are not at issue; just not torqued properly at assembly

The issue is the cheap gaskets that they used not the studs or being torqued properly. Even when they torque them down properly, they still come back leaking. Ive already been through this process.

OP - my "17 Sport MT was not on any recall. I did my due diligence(thank you TW!!) and checked my pumpkin and sure enough I had two spots smaller, but similar to yours. Brought it up to the dealer and long story short; new seal, retourqed, re-filled. Dealer will take care of it.
