Rear diff skid plate recomendations

For a third gen

Need that big fancy diff armor to protect their axle from all the curbs and dirt roads they are driving on. And because it adds Expo and TW points

I “wasted” my money on full RCI skids even before I got new tires and new suspension. Nobody knows its there unless they actually look under there and the loss of clearance on the pumpkin is definitely not 1”. Maybe 1/4” is realistic. Ive never thought that I wish I would’ve spent my money on something else instead.

 

This is an interesting thread. I've got full skids coming from bud built and haven't been on a dirt road...yet. But I also know that I don't want to be crying in my phone about having a recovery service to come and get me. With that said, I doubt I'll get a diff guard, but I sure as heck don't want the gas tank and oil pan to take a lick.

 

Someone told me that if you weld armour onto your differential you might as well cut off your D***, cuz you don't really need it.

Now I don't know if that's true or not but the guy who told me that is usually pretty reliable.

 

Oh I just 'memembered something else he also told me. He said if you weld armour on to your differential you might as well shove a beaver skid plate up your hitch.
I mean again, I don't know if it's true or not, but I kind of believe this guy.

 

Currently it looks like RCI and BAMF are options. Anyone have opinions on either of those diff skids? BAMF is BAMF and likely nuck prof and looks to extend further forward past the joint.

Anyways. Diff skids aren’t needed at all, they are more of a detriment than anything.

Neither are actually worth what they are charging as it’s a boutique low value item.
