    Hello,

I replaced my differential fluids today and the front took the recommended 1.5-1.6qt but the rear I filled to 4.5qt before I saw any seepage. Has anyone else noticed this? Maybe my garage floor isn't totally level?

    I have a 2021 offroad.

    Thanks,
    Zach

Don't sweat it! Even if your garage floor is a couple of degrees off-level, that isn't making a bit of difference.

4.5qt is quite a bit. Should be 6qt to fill front and rear, front taking just about 2 while the rear takes 3.5ish. 4.5 is quite a bit, are you pumping or true filling with a gravity feed or what?

Rear diff oil volume depends on a lot of factors. You truck might have a larger housing than the truck next to it

Mine took about the same and has been trouble free for 6500 miles. If it took it - leave it was my theory. Still plenty of room for expansion.

park the truck on a leveled surface. Insert your pinky finger in the fill hole and if there is a small drop of oil on your pinky - good to go.

Rear oil volume depends on the model...

I think you filled it the correct way. My transmission came one quart low because someone at the Toyota factory put in a certain amount of quarts and called it good.

Made in Mexico. I hear this alot these days. I always check a new car that I buy now to make sure all fluid are full.

Right...I was referring to the statement that it should take "3.5ish" quarts.

ORs (OP truck) and Pros have the larger ring gear rear diffs, which in my experience is about ~4.5 quarts.

If u overfilled it by accident no biggie it will drain out of the over flow tube .like others said some differentials are bigger depending on your transmission .

They technically aren't filled to the fill hole. They come from the factory slightly below, which is the specified 4.2 quarts. Filling to the fill hole is good too.
