The hole is bigger than 1/4" and not threaded. Its just a hole stamped in the sheet metal.

But it doesn't matter. Use what you have - its only fuel line.

1/4-20 bolt with a nyloc nut works well and most people have that stuff laying around.

What website did you order the union/breather from? Looking at toyotapartszone and they don't list the Tacoma on that Union part number as a compatible vehicle. Just want to make sure I'm getting the right part before I pull the trigger. None of my local dealers have them in stock.

I went to my local dealer and ordered the parts, exactly as listed. They are correct part #'s.

Thanks for confirming part #s. I'm looking for a good website to get them from. None of my dealers have them in stock so I'd rather not waste a trip to the dealer if I can do it while sitting on my lazy butt in front of my computer.

Unclear from the photo...where does the vent line enter the tail light recess? I guess if I look under there it might be obvious...

It will be obvious. As you look underneath, you'll run it through the hole that the harness goes thru.

I just got it from my local dealer. Stopped by on the way to work and ordered. Then picked them up the next day. It only took them overnight to get them. Part numbers are correct.

Alright thanks! San Antonio has a bunch of dealers but all of them are at least a 30 minute drive away and none of them actually had them in stock. Didn't want to make 2 trips. I ordered some on-line yesterday. Shipping cost more than the parts but still easier than wasting time/money driving to the dealer twice. Hopefully next weekend I'll be able to do this mod.

Does any one know if this location and the parts work on a 1st Gen? And those that used fuel filters, what sort of fuel filter did you use?

Thanks for this write up. I definitely need to do something like this. :D

I suspect that the location and parts will work. As far as the filter question - I don't know. But I'm sure you can find an answer to that here on TW. There's a lot of vent relocate threads. I recommend searching in the gen 1 threads as well. Good luck!

All done....pretty easy. Biggest pain was the fact that my fuel line came off a really tight spool so it was a pain trying to keep it straightened out. I didn't run it through the brake line bracket on the axle either, just let it droop down from the frame to the union. Thanks again for the idea...definitely like this better than the gas door option.

Good job! Yeah my fuel line was the end of the spool as well; so it was all twisted up. Tie wraps took care of it.
