Rear Diff Vent Blocked?

LED Interior Bulbs, Hondo Garage Phone Mount, Tacoma Bed Mat

During routine maintenance I opened the fill plug on the rear diff and heard a bunch of air escape! "Psssssssstt". Seems odd?!? I wouldn't think you would want pressure in there.
