That's a start. If it blows again, look at entirely new axles...though that ain't cheap.

    :rubs face:

    (see?)

The bolt pattern for the differentials/axle housings is different; the e-locker housing includes a mount for the e-locker motor, so no, an "8.4" third (really, they're all 8" diameter) won't bolt directly into an e-locker housing. He would need both.

Sourcing that isn't too terribly difficult; find a junkyard taco that was totaled in the front and gank the whole axle. He'll need to make sure to use the brake drums/lines/wheel hubs from his current axle though to preserve any VSC/traction control options he currently has....unless he sources an axle from a truck with the same options.

As for RD129 fitment, I'm not sure, but I would wager probably not...e-locker internals are different from non-locked diffs and I'm not exactly sure where ARB runs the air line and whether it would clear what's in the e-locked rears.

OP: The better way to do this is to go to Nitro Gear 4.56 gears. It'll get the power back from your upsized tires and the gears are thicker cut, making them more resistant to future breakage. You will lose some highway mileage though.

Sorry I don't have a scanner, but that's the writeup on the repairs and parts that were performed by Royal Moore Toyota on my vehicle.

I was hoping to give you more information with it or something, I guess.

There's a very long ongoing list on TTORA of people who have had the exact same issue as you both modded AND unmodded. IIRC, ATO had a problem with one of their vehicles, got denied warranty, took the issue to court and won. Several guys were able to use that as leverage.

I find your comment disturbing. You are saying that you should never try in case you end up failing?

Keep in mind NASA did all of their own vehicle work and did a nice job on the Columbia

That was All-Pro, taken to arbitration.

I'm saying if you fuck with it yourself, be ready to handle the consequences yourself. That is all.

OP setting up gears and installing locker is not easy. Chances are that if you dont know what ARB is, you will not setup gears correctly either so in few hundred miles down the road there will be another expensive repair.

Heck if you had knowledge about differentials you most likely would not have busted current third .;)

Save your money, arb the front diff, keep the rear e-locker with nitro gears, buy another set for "incase" and wheel the shit out of your truck.

This is what im doing minus buying another set.

OP I just blew up my 3rd being a dumbass, although it was the ring and pinion that i messed up. I would just re-gear front and rear with an ARB up front and keep the 8'' housing. This is what im planning on doing, if I blow up the rear end again im gonna be pissed. But then I would probably get a land cruiser axle.

Hit up ECGS for the pre-built 3rd and front clamshell. Im in the process of pulling the 3rd right now. Its the first time i have done it and its a little difficult but I think I can handle it and you probably could to. Good Luck.
