I had my rear differential replaced Jan 2019(I bought the truck Nov. 18). Saw this yesterday. Any ideas? I know there were issues direct from manufacturer but any input would be appreciated. 97CD049F-1242-4456-B04B-9B59DFA61FA0.jpgD93D02CB-CE48-4972-B31C-1FC405B0C1D7.jpg

I think Toyota might classify this as weeping.

You’ll be ok. Clean it off and watch it.

Like other have said this type of weep is very common. Even fluctuations in ambient air temperature can cause this. On my old dodge truck during this past winter I noticed the trans pan was leaking a tiny bit. Enough that if I didn’t wipe it off it would drip onto the driveway. For the last few months now it’s as dry as can be- no fluid at all.
You can always research the torque spec on the 3rd member and tighten accordingly. I wouldn’t be surprised if they’re a little loose.

Not worth a trip to the dealer

Can of fluid film will blend that right in

Not a concern until you see a drip, then it's considered a leak.

Take it in. That way it will bevregistered in your trucks profile. That's what I did on my '17.

I believe it’s from assembly, and just creeps, especially when it’s warm out. When I rebuild a diff, I try as hard as I can to keep the mating surfaces dry, but it’s damn near impossible. After some time my diff will have some assembly creep. I don’t think in my whole time on TW I’ve seen a drip, and none of my rebuilds drip. So it would make sense that once cleaned it was never seen again. That was the case with mine as well.

It’s not a bad idea, but it comes with the risk of having someone’s hands all up in them guts for what could be no reason.

Not a leak. Weeping or seepage is all I see. Check your fluid level in your diff every so often to be safe ( like maybe every oil change).

This is what a bad one looks like. This was my old truck before 1st fix and the 2nd time it happened. Both times it was fixed but the 2nd time was much worse than the current situation you have. Just wait and see how it progresses. I got corporate in olives the 2nd time with mine just FYI.
