I would demand my money back and buy a used older truck and try to buy another 3rd gen when they sort their shit out

I don't believe in buying extra warranty anymore I think it's a scam to get more money out of you My opinion on it only because I bought the extra warranty for 7 years for 100km for my 2013 corolla and I've owned it for 3 years and I'm at 91,000 km

    Wait.....

So your truck failed, it happens

Toyota fixed your truck free of charge and delivered it to your front door?

What more do you think you "deserve"?

    Unreal

    Just drive your truck already

You had a differential failure.........not like the wing fell off your new Boeing airplane....then you should be scared

I had a diff fail recently (long story on how it happened but it wasn't Toyota's fault), but I nearly shit myself. Maybe not as catastrophic as a wing falling off but it was no joke. I came to a skidding halt from 65 mph on a major interstate. Scared the hell out of me.

I've been following this thread from the beginning since my differential howl is loud as hell. If my differential locked up at highway speeds, I'd shit myself. No doubt. I definitely sympathize with your situation.

With that said, I can't say that I understand the extreme anxiety and flat refusal to drive it again.

You know for sure that low fluid killed the differential. You got a new one and can easily double check the fluid level of the new one. You won't experience another catastrophic differential failure.

Showing good faith by returning the rental will only help your case if it goes legal. The laws always evaluate the situation from the 'reasonable person' standard. Returning the rental will make you look like that reasonable person and will help your legal case, not hurt it.

I don't think he's necessarily worried about the differential failing again. I think he's just concerned that something else might catastrophically fail given that Toyota allegedly couldn't even put the right amount of fluid in the diff. If I recall correctly he has had other issues with the truck that needed servicing too. All of which is fueling his anxiety that the truck may not be meeting minimal quality standards.

Exactly, if I understood the Thread prior to the Diff Failure they already had to replace his wiring harness too from someone just jamming the plugs together, I think he fears the next catastrophic failure can cause injury or death.
