Dont know. Had no reason to check before and still see no reason to mess with it now.

    This.

I doubt the assembly line puts third member in. But instead rely on a supplier who I am nearly 99.999999999% uses electronic torque tools torquing all bolts at once. Electronically. Which will kick out any and record that particular rear. For having to retorque.

OP, I was on the 110 south at around 7AM. Was next to a MGM sport DCSB most of the way. Were you on around this time? I ended up passing you. I was in a white TRD OR. Couldn't do 55 constantly with LA traffic in the light rain.

On the way home, saw another MGM sport with DCLB. Obviously not you, but these 3rd gens are bountiful now.

How you approach you're own preventative maintenance is your prerogative.
But, do you think the possibility exists, the reason low diff fluid is not a prevalent topic, is because it's just not getting checked?

Preventative maintenance is done at 5/15/25/40/50k miles (take your pick on what needs to be checked). Not day one. I bet you didn't check EVERY single fluid on your brand new truck.

I never said it couldn't be an issue. All I said was, rear diff fluid being low isnt a "common" issue. Most people cant check thier transmission fluid on their own. But it still became a prevalent topic and a known common issue.

Not understanding your point in all this.

I agree the Lawyer letter is very effective just because the headaches associated with it.

I agree. I have not seen any oil leaks and I told him that when he suggested that either someone crawled under my truck and loosened the bolts in an attempt on my life or the bolts came loose today during my drive.

I did hear the howl about 1/2 hour earlier. Didn't know what it was. then a loud noise just before the wheels locked up

That is correct. Locked up as in the wheels stopped rotating and the rear end started to jump.

So bolts that hold the third member in I would assume. Have them look at some of the other nuts and look for socket marked. Pull a stud from the axle housing and see if it has loc tite. If I was going to intentionally lock up an axle on someone I hate I would unbolt the axle from the tube since it's only 4 bolts a size vs 16

I found one of a jeep dash cam video but he just slowed down to the side of the road, nothing crazy.

The dealer can't admit it because if they do, they open themselves up for a lawsuit. I mean, if that is the case, then they nearly killed me today because of it. I got lucky but it could have been a fatality for sure.

12,500 miles. It was at the dealer at 5 & 10k miles almost on the dot.

But who would have touched them? I don't do any mechanical work on my cars. The only mod that I've made is a tonneau cover!

That's interesting info. But how long would it take for the bolts to shake loose?
