Alright, so first things first, I own a 2006 PreRunner that has the TRD Offroad sticker on it (previous owner just put it on there and I didnt know when I bought it from the dealer, wasnt advertised as such though) so I dont have a rear diff lock.

So what I was wondering was, what would be the best thing to do here:

1st) lookin at the Detroit Lockers which are always locked, also cheaper

2nd) ARB Air Locker, more expensive, but I choose when I want it engaged

3rd) this is the main reason I made this topic...would it be possible to if I found a salvage truck or went to the junk yard and found an '05+ rear axle that has the factory rear diff lock in it (and of course the appropriate electronics and the button that are needed) and just replaced my rear axle with the TRD Offroad rear axle?

this is something that I have been wondering for awhile now and am just unsure of what to do, getting a rear diff lock would be nice and I would personally rather choose when I want the rear diff engaged rather than having the Detroit Lockers in that are always locked even though they are cheaper and require less maintenance

    Heres my baby

Yes you can do an axle swap with the locker in it

That's smarter but probably not cheaper.

If it was between the Detroit Locker and the ARB, I would choose the ARB 100% every time.

I also advocate the ARB over the e locker and detroit but I get why you would choose the e locker. Those ARBs aren't cheap.

ARBs are a pretty penny though lol, glad I realized that I could just swap axles instead of spending a grand

ya, the ARB locker was what I was originally lookin at...but for $1000? thats a good bit of money, plus I would have to buy the air compressor as well, so theres another $250

been lookin for an E-locker, but apparently I fail at searching for things lol, all I have found was threads on people doing the E-locker swap from non E-locker...grr

Didn't Mark pay almost the price of an ARB locker for his TRD rearend?

Just make sure you get the entire rearend and not just the 3rd member. The 3rd members are different.
