I've seen worst vehicle abuse situations...OP should head to the local junk yards and get over it.

Didn’t bother to read 11 pages......

    Ring gear failed.

Now I have destroyed a Tom Woods driveshaft in a Jeep with one ton u-joints fucking around in the snow when I hit salted pavement. Lifted the front end 2 feet off the ground before the driveshaft blew apart. The rear end was fine. The rest of the drivetrain was fine.

Considering the weakest link will fail first I have a hard time believeing the ring gear was the weakest part vs the pinion teeth or the joints in the driveshaft. That is based on one picture only that was provided by the OP.

You really need to read all 11 pages for a better understanding of what’s going on :)

You know what I like about this song?

It has such a rich history. The record label was like “dio, we need you to chill on the wizards, dragons, and witches. Write a ballad, for the radio. For the wimmenz....” and like he could only last 45 fucking seconds. 45 in, the record execs were like “Jesus dio really???”

I don't think $4,500 is crazy. We're talking about an entirely new axle housing, axles, and differential, brand new from Toyota, installed at a dealer. That's about exactly what I would expect. And yes you can fix it yourself for cheaper, pulling out and replacing a rear end is an easy job if you can find a used one complete.

OP - sorry for the diff, and kudos for manning-up to the situation.

That being said, this is the best thread I've ever read on TW! A new standard has been set for dumpster fires.

2nd gen sub= bros at a baseball game “letting loose” by eating hot dogs and drinking Budweiser

3rd gen sub= group of people in a gas station parking lot throwing firecrackers at each other until the cops come
