Press the A-TRAC button. If you have a pre 2009 truck, then get locker on before the bad stuff.

Mines also shows the blinking red light when I use the elocker. I thought that this was normal. Just got back from a short drive and my also beeps when I am in 4lo regardless of rear lock or not. Mines is a 2012 tacoma. I will drive my brothers 2015 Tacoma TRD pro tomorrow and put it in 4lo to see if it beeps and also use the elocker and see if it blinks. He has less then 5k miles so i assume his is working as it should. Will report back.

OK so after reading the owners manual beeps and flashes are indicators of no engagement. Got the 4lo to work on my tacoma and beeps to go away. For me this process worked, Neutral, 4hi, drive, neutral, then 4lo. No more beeps and flashing 4x4 light. Engages instantly, track off light comes on and truck is in lower gear. I was going from just neutral to 4lo and that gave me the beep. Rear locker light is still flashing and the owner manual states to press button and wait a few seconds for locker to engage and then light to stay on. Tomorrow will lift the rear end up and check to see if locker is not engaging or just a faulty locker engage indicator switch.

The locker is finicky, but A-TRAC works easily. The locker only works in L4. Be stopped with wheels straight, press button... creep ahead a few feet... if light still is blinking, turn steering wheel to ONE direction and then creep a little more. If that doesn't make it go solid... You May Have a Problem?!

if it doesn't go solid you may just have a new truck

new ones sometimes are a total bitch to engage. after some use they ease up quite a bit as
the mechanism mating and sliding surfaces buff into each other
