Toyota Tacoma diff whine is a well known complaint and Toyota has addressed it.

I've had my TRD 6sp manual for since Dec '15 and it's just fine.

Wow, so it’s still a thing and it’s still a hit or miss . Did they just changed the oil or replaced it with another diff. You may update this thread after a couple of months if the whining came back .

Btw they did apply some cab insulation on my 2017 years ago and it’s been great . That and With the noisy duratrac, it’s been whine free for now )

Ya I went to the dealer and the first thing I told them was I don’t want to hear that this is a normal thing and I wanted to speak to your best service technician and that’s what I did and told him to test drive it and listen between 52-58 mph so he did and confirm the noise I wasn’t going to take any BS from the dealer

 

Yeah dood, gear noise is not normal. What other newer cars/trucks do you hear gear noise in? LOL. Reminds me of when cars and trucks only lasted 75k miles. Good luck getting her fixed!
