so what you are saying is no need to swap e boosters on our truck doing a rear disk setup as thats the same thing already used in a 4 wheel disk setup?

So im a little slow. But are you saying if i have vsc(thus atrac) in my 2015 OR that I already have the same dual master as the current gen 4R with the Front and rear disc and the bigger front Discs? So what wouldnt my Taco have that would suggest i may not wan to do a full front upgrade and rear swap to disc? Or should i just plan on it?

So found when installing front park brake shoes on sos kit unbolting backing plate and turning so shoe on top there's a lot more room to install hold down spring retainer . Just need to hold bottom of backing plate to axle so got the angle for more clearance .
Didn't install master yet but works great with out it .Just that pedal feels a little on the soft side .Will install tommorow .

Now this is an interesting revelation. Is it in fact the same part or just similar board but setup different? Honestly have no idea and have not found anyone to comment but plenty of people have commented when doing T4R setups (myself included) some sponginess has been seen. Although stopping better still not the idea pedal feel. This has me debating if adding the rear conversion I would run into even worse pedal feel. I expected some but could not find any concrete info on it.

When I looked into the T4R setups (not all but the ones with the electronic booster) it was not the same hydraulic booster.

Curious between 2010-2015 4runner and 2016-2020 runner. Saw some full E-booster setups for $400-$500 of a donor vehicle. Not in any rush but curious if it would fit.

Not to be a dick but I believe the driver side is clocked wrong. Here's mine as an example. Where the pivot bolt is should be on top.

I also believe that we encountered pedal sponginess on @Lucario Runner 's. Due to an unfathomable amount of air being trapped in the ABS module. This may be something to consider, @hemitruk .

Good call out. I bled mine due when I added the T4R set up front how the electronic does is but I have always felt the master still had some air in it.

I had it unbolted from axle so I could angle backing plate so I could put on hold down spring . Made it easier . Judt posted pic to show more room to install hold down spring .
Saw your pics of install . Helped a lot

Good deal. Glad those photos helped as well. We were stumped for a moment, as the instructions were unclear at one point, about the Passenger bearing orientation. Had to give them a call. Just passing some of that knowledge along to fellow enthusiasts.

Yea that's why posted pic of backing plate angled . In case anyone was struggling like me lol. Lot more room to install front shoe hold down spring . With it bolted up got like 3/16 max to put it on .1st one took me a few hours  lots of swearing to install till I unbolted plate and angled it . Other side like an hour to install shoes and backing plate .
In a way the softer pedal feel reminds me of the lincolns I test drove while working at a rent a car place (Hertz) in 80s . I mean the more you press even with softer feel you really feel the gripping power . So maybe I'm saying a more luxurious feel lol. Any way glad I did the grade .

Edit .Added pic of brake line . Was going to install and was like installing with flex line mounted in slot for banjo fitting was like WTF .Then I read the instruction lol. Said dont install with banjo fitting in slot lol.

Does your parking brake still hold the truck on a steep hill?

Something I didn't post originally when I was discussing the dual-sized master cylinder is that the secondary (smaller) piston is a failsafe piston only in case of primary hydraulic circuit failure. Under normal operation the primary (larger) piston is used for all braking (front and rear).

Curious about the ebrake connection. Is there any modification needed to the ebrake cable connection when swapping to 4R disc brakes? Lets say I am not buying a kit to swap out my drums, but ordering an axle built for Toyota 4R disc brakes. I havent really seen kits mention how the ebrake cable connects if there is an included adapter or whatever or it hooks right up with no modification.

I also have a few FJs and I can say once the ebrake is set correctly it will hold very well. There is an adjustment to tension the ebrake on each brake itself, and also an adjustment at the lever. Adjusting the cable tension at the lever is easier than pulling the wheels so some people try this first. They are not self-tensioning.
