I got a car wash in the morning to wash salt off and parked right away.
Pulled out of my spot and it made a clunk/lurch sort of like the brakes were stuck to the drums/rotors.(Temps not freezing)

I stopped ahead and was like eh maybe something with my parking brake, so i pulled it up and back down.
I was stuck.... Pressed the gas and the rear wheels were not spinning and didnt feel really like they were getting tension on them. (Like torque forward and roll back when gas let off)

Put it in reverse and nothing, forward nothing.
Tried putting it in 4wd and gave it some gas and was dragging the rear wheels.
Drug my wheels backwards and forward with 4wd incase the shoes were stuck and nothing.
Finally gave up, took it out of 4wd, put it in park, and it did that little roll when you park.

Put it back in drive and it all worked fine.....
Im at a loss for what just happened.

    Any ideas?

No money, all went to truck...
rear drums temporarily seized from the wash.

I never use parking brake after a wash to avoid this.

parking brakes on these like to rust in about 12-15 seconds,, don't set brake wet for sure.

An axle seal leaking on the rear drum pads will cause the same problem, except that it's not a quick fix. You'll need to change the rear drum pads. Don't ask me how I know, (96 4Runner Purple Barney Edition).

The factory brake shoes are semi-metallic, so they flash-rust to the drums after a wash. Avoid using the parking brake after a wash. Changing to aftermarket ceramic shoes may reduce the problem somewhat. I have the same problem on my 5th gen 4Runner.

The last time this happened to me, I gave the driver side rear tire a few solid kicks and it freed up. The previous times, I drove it back and forth in 4lo until it freed up. I will use the kicking method next time. YMMV.

same^ Once offroading I got out to piss and it wouldn't move when I got back in. Ended up having to smack the passenger side backing plate with a hammer to get the parking brake to release. Just a reminder to carry a basic set of tools when you're toolin' around.
