Not sure if this is the right section to post this. Anyone one in the socal area willing to loan me a rear drive shaft? I recently did a 4x4 conversion on my 2003 double cab and im trying to confirm if the drive shaft is my issue before moving onto replacing the rear end. All i need to do is slap another one on and see if thats the problem. Ive already took the drive shaft to a shop and replaced the outer 2 u joints and center support bearing and got balanced. The double cardan joints werent replaced and im almost convinced those might be the issue with the noise im getting. Thanks in advance

remove the rear driveline ,then put it in 4wd and drive around in front wheel drive.

I did and the noise is not there. So i know its either the drive shaft or the rear end. Before i did the 4x4 conversion it wasnt making that noise so i doubt its the diff. I think the 4x4 drive shaft i got is no good thats why i would like to slap another one on to confirm

Your rear end (the diff) still moves without the driveshaft, so if there's no noise, that's likely not the problem. Since it wasn't a problem before the swap, that's more evidence it's not the diff.

If the DC's are suspect, just go ahead and replace those anyway. Cheaper than a diff, too.

I had told the guy at the drive shaft place that i wanted to replace them too but he told me they seem fine to him and to just do the outer ones with the center support and balance it. Slapping another one on will only take a few minutes to do and will 100% confirm thats why im trying to get a hold of another one.
